Quick Start

  1. Sign up or sign in with your email below.
  2. Add a book — click + Add Book or drag-and-drop an EPUB file onto the library.
  3. Read — tap or swipe to turn pages. Use arrow keys or Page Up/Down on a keyboard.
  4. Select text to highlight, define words, take notes, or ask AI about a passage.
  5. Open AI Chat — tap the AI icon in the toolbar. Your selected text becomes the context automatically.
  6. Customize — tap the gear icon in the reader to change fonts, themes, and layout.
User Manual
Library
  • Add books — click + Add Book or drag EPUB files onto the page. Multiple files are supported.
  • Open a book — click its cover. Your reading position is saved automatically.
  • Delete a book — click the trash icon on the book card.
  • Books are stored locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded to the cloud.
Reading & Navigation
  • Turn pages — tap the left/right edges, swipe, use arrow keys, Page Up/Down, or Space.
  • Jump to a chapter — open the Table of Contents panel from the toolbar.
  • Search — press Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on Mac) or tap the search icon. Use Enter/Shift+Enter to cycle through results.
  • Navigation history — Alt+Left/Right to go back and forward through visited positions.
  • Two-page mode — toggle in the reader settings panel under Modes for a book-like spread view.
  • Fullscreen — tap the fullscreen icon. On mobile this hides the toolbar for a larger reading area.
Typography & Themes
  • Open the reader settings panel (gear icon in the toolbar).
  • Font — choose from Serif (Garamond, Georgia, Merriweather), Sans-serif (Arial, Lato, Noto Sans, System UI, Verdana), or Monospace (Courier New).
  • Font size & line spacing — adjust with the dropdowns.
  • Themes — Light, Sepia, Gray, Dark, and Night.
Std Layout (Physical Layout Mode)
  • Locks pagination to a fixed viewport size so page breaks stay consistent — like a physical book.
  • Capture — tap the camera icon in settings to snapshot the current viewer dimensions.
  • Lock/Unlock — tap the lock icon to freeze or release the layout.
  • While locked, font and spacing controls are disabled and the content scales to fit smaller screens without re-flowing.
Highlights & Annotations
  • Highlight text — select text, then tap the color swatch in the context menu, or press H.
  • Change color — tap the chevron next to the swatch to pick from Vivid, Soft, or Pastel palettes (27 colors).
  • Add a note — tap Add Note in the context menu after selecting text.
  • Remove a highlight — tap the highlighted text and choose Clear Highlight.
  • Export — download all highlights and bookmarks as a .bookdata.json file from the settings panel.
  • Import — upload a previously exported .bookdata.json file to restore annotations.
Bookmarks
  • Add a bookmark — open the Bookmarks panel and tap the + button. The bookmark is created at your current position.
  • Jump to a bookmark — tap any entry in the list.
  • Delete — tap the trash icon next to a bookmark.
  • Bookmarks are included in annotation exports/imports.
AI Chat
  • Open — tap the AI icon in the toolbar or settings panel.
  • Context — select text in the book before asking a question. The selection is automatically loaded as context.
  • Grounding — the default mode grounds answers in your book text. The AI uses the current chapter, or you can ask about specific chapters (e.g. "summarize chapters 3-5") or the whole book.
  • Summarize — tap the Summarize button in the AI header to get a summary of the current chapter or selected text.
  • Claim/Evidence mode — enable via the fact-check icon. The AI highlights its claims and matches them to passages in the source text.
  • Translate — tap the translate icon, pick a language, and tap the translate button. Supports 12 languages.
  • Formatting hints — ask for specific output formats: "summarize in 5 bullet points", "200 words", "50% of the input length".
  • Quota — a badge in the AI header shows your remaining monthly requests.
  • Send with Enter, new line with Shift+Enter. Tap New Chat to clear history.
Read Aloud (Text-to-Speech)
  • Start — tap the speaker icon in the toolbar, or select text and choose Read Selection Aloud.
  • Pause/Resume — tap the pause icon or press Space.
  • Stop — press Escape.
  • Speed — tap the speed icon for 0.8× to 2× playback. Arrow Up/Down adjust speed during playback.
  • Voice — choose a voice in the Read Aloud section of settings.
  • Playback auto-advances to the next page when the current one finishes.
Speed Reading
  • Start — tap the bolt icon, or choose Speed Read from the context menu.
  • Controls — Space to pause/resume, Escape to stop, Arrow Up/Down to adjust speed.
  • Settings — configure words per chunk (2-8) in the Speed Reading section of settings.
Define Word
  • Select a word, then tap the dictionary icon in the context menu.
  • A popup shows pronunciation, part of speech, definitions, and example sentences.
Customizing the Interface
  • Toolbar buttons — add, remove, or reorder buttons from the settings panel. Long-press and drag to reorder.
  • Context menu — actions that appear when you select text can be customized the same way.
  • AI header — action buttons in the AI panel header can also be rearranged.
  • Panel resizing — drag the edge of any side panel to adjust its width.

Installing as an App
  • Pagelogue is a Progressive Web App. When prompted, tap Install to add it to your home screen or desktop.
  • The installed app works offline and opens in its own window, just like a native app.
Bible Navigation
  • When a Bible EPUB is detected, a dedicated navigation panel appears automatically.
  • Enter a reference like "John 3:16", "Ps 23", or "Gen 1:1" to jump directly to that passage.
